First LEED Certified Manufacturing Facility in Central Texas Opens Doors
Employing superior green building practices and paving the way for future manufacturing facilities throughout the region is AirBorn, Inc., a global supplier of electronic components. This month they will be moving into their new LEED certified complex in Georgetown, which is the only one of its kind in Central Texas.
With a construction budget of $6.3 million for the approximately 58,000 square-foot structure, collaborative partners include Raymond Construction, Hendrix Consulting Engineers, Boyer and Associates and FHI Engineering. Moman Architects provided all architectural, planning and interior design services for the flagship project.
The modern, energy-efficient building, situated on a sustainable site, incorporates several environmentally friendly components such as high-efficiency lighting, urinals, and mechanical equipment, as well as motion sensors, timers and low-static duct work. The exterior and grounds feature 100% reflective roofing, water reduction, bike racks, and parking for hybrid cars.
By seeking a LEED certification, the manufacturer will garner significant savings in number of areas including electricity, water, and HVAC systems. Aside from monetary benefits, employees will reap the benefits of healthy, functional and earth-conscious surroundings.
Strategic Partnerships Lead to Great Opportunities and Firm's Success
Architecture is a relationship business, and Moman Architects was founded on the principles of partnership, innovation and efficiency. Our commitment has always been to seek out exciting projects and determine the best means of delivering high-quality results by assembling the most talented team of professionals available locally, regionally and nationally.
Recently, Williamson County approved an $18 million Emergency Services Operation Center, which is being developed by Parsons, Leach Mounce Architects and Moman Architects. Spearheading the project is the world-renowned firm, Parsons serving as prime. Expert, Howard Leach, Principal of Leach Mounce has designed more than 50 emergency command centers and is developing all critical systems. We complement the project by sharing our local knowledge, assisting with site selection and designing all interior public spaces. Without this collaboration, a project of this magnitude would be out of reach.
Another of our mutually beneficial partnerships is with the Buda, TX-based Practice Design Group (PDG), a firm whose expertise is in designing and consulting for dental facilities across the country. Moman Architects will serve as Prime, handling all documents for bidding and construction, while PDG will be responsible for interior design and layout.
By forging these unique partnerships, our team continues to become more equipped to handle a variety of challenges due to their knowledge, ability, experience and exposure to the latest technology. Additionally, our firm benefits from increased public awareness and greater opportunities for garnering new projects.
