Boys and Girls Club of Georgetown Has Growth Spurt
In order to better meet the growing needs of children and teens between the ages of 6-18 years of age, the Boys and Girls Club of Georgetown is in the process of adding 2,200-square-feet to their already exisiting 2,500-square-foot building. Currently, the project is in the building permit stage, with a target completion date of June 2010.
The highly regarded national charity seeks to enable young people to reach their fullest potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Founded in 2004 with just 20 members, the Georgetown branch quickly exceeded 400 kids and anticipates an increase in attendance during the summer months. “Providing a dedicated and private area for them [teens] is vital if we are to keep them in our club,” says Daniel Anstee, Branch Director for the Boys and Girls Club of Georgetown. “The project is not intended to increase membership, but to serve our current participants more effectively.”
