Community Joins Forces to Rebuild Beloved Camp
On March 24, 2010, a terrible fire destroyed the dining hall and administrative offices belonging to the Camp of the Hills, a faith-based organization providing an inspirational outdoor setting for family, youth and corporate retreats in Marble Falls. To support the group’s rebuilding efforts, Moman Architects is donating their architectural services to complete the design of a new 3,200 square foot facility.
Occupying the space will be a commercial kitchen, dining hall, administrative offices, as well as a nurse’s station and counselor’s quarters. Additionally, green and sustainable elements will be incorporated into the design such as flame resistant insulation and ICI steel beams. The result will be an environmentally friendly and safe new home for the Camp of the Hills, complete with a native stone façade and large covered porches.
In order to continue offering guidance to inner city youth and marriage counseling to strengthen local families, Camp of the Hills is currently seeking funds for construction of their facility, as well as additional items lost in the fire such as fans, vacuum cleaners, and kitchen supplies. Modern Medical Facility to Open in Round Rock
Moman Architects was chosen to design a 6,200 square foot medical office building for Dr. Robert Naples, DDS, which will be located on RM 620 and Oaklands Drive. A renowned surgeon, Dr. Naples has practiced in Round Rock for over a decade, and had a very clear vision of his new facility, including the footprint, materials, and technology.
The contemporary dental structure’s façade will have a curved covered overhang supported by steel tubes and stone columns, as well as a heavy timber and wood trellis to provide shade. The interior will have an open reception area, bringing the outdoors in with an entire wall of windows, in addition to several patient exam rooms and administrative offices featuring the most advanced equipment and technology available. The medical building will be constructed by Round Rock-based Aday & Associates and will be completed in 2011.
